Classical and quantum communication without a shared reference frame.
We show that communication without a shared reference frame is possible using entangled states. Both classical and quantum information can be communicated with perfect fidelity without a shared reference frame at a rate that asymptotically approaches one classical bit or one encoded qubit per transmitted qubit. We present an optical scheme to communicate classical bits without a shared referenc...

متن کاملSecret quantum communication of a reference frame.
We propose quantum-cryptographic protocols to secretly communicate a reference frame--unspeakable information in the sense it cannot be encoded into a string of bits. Two distant parties can secretly align their Cartesian axes by exchanging N spin-1/2 particles, achieving the optimal accuracy 1/N. A possible eavesdropper cannot gain any information without being detected.
متن کاملAn Empirical Investigation into Spatial Reference Frame Taxonomy using Dialogue
Reference frames are abstract representations that enable people to describe the location of objects using projective descriptions such as, above, below, left, and right. There have typically been three broad classes of reference frames identified in the literature: Those that are based upon the environment, those based upon an object and those that are egocentric. However, the exact details of...
متن کاملSpatial reference frame of incidentally learned attention.
Visual attention prioritizes information presented at particular spatial locations. These locations can be defined in reference frames centered on the environment or on the viewer. This study investigates whether incidentally learned attention uses a viewer-centered or environment-centered reference frame. Participants conducted visual search on a monitor laid flat on a tabletop. During trainin...
